Is it safe to burn a candle in a plastic baby bottle?

LJuliet97 asked:

I came across this website and thought it was a cute idea. My only concern it safety. http://baby-shower.yeahbaby.com/favor.php?page=baby-bottle-candles-favor
I would like to do it with some old 4oz. Precious Moments bottles I have. Has anyone every tried this? Will the bottles melt or catch on fire?

It’s not safe to do this with plastic bottles. The link you attached mentioned using glass bottles and I think that is wise. Many plastics burn easily and some create toxic fumes when they do.

I guess so…as long as you don’t give the bottle to a baby.

Doesn’t really sound or look too safe

Absolutely not! Plastic will burn and/or melt, it can also give off toxic fumes. If you can’t use glass don’t do it at all! The directions at the site you linked to even said , Prepare empty glass baby bottles, notice the empty GLASS part!
