These Gerber ones are BPA free, simple, cheap and do the trick! Thankfully I have been using them from the start!

Here is a simple list of safe and unsafe bottles...

I live in Canada and the retailers in my area are offering refunds for any bottles containing bpa that were purchased in their stores. I've ordered some online from Target that are reuseable plastic ones that are bpa free. For now, I'm using the Playtex drop ins but I don't really like them. I think they're hard to read and (I think) wasteful. If you do a search of bpa free products there is actually a wide range of items in a wide range of prices.

I've switched to MAM anti-colic bottles. They are BPA free plastic and inexpensive (3 bottle for $13). They have a vent in the base of them so baby doesn't get too much gas. I tried the BPA free Parent's Choice bottles from Wal-Mart and the Classic Gerber bottles and they produced way too much gas and spit up! This site gives a great list of safe products (http://zrecs.blogspot.com/2008/02/z-report-on-bpa-in-infant-care-products.html ). I have found it very helpful.

I agree with the glass bottle theory. Along with the baby I have a fast moving two year old and tile floors. The glass bottles are pretty tough, but I don't want to take the chance.

I used AVENT bottles with my 1st child and have been using them with my youngest. After sitting on hold forever, I confirmed with an Avent rep last week that the do indeed contain BPA.

Good Luck!

To those that think the BPA thing is stupid and a waste of time and money... I personally feel it is my responsibility to be sure my babies get the best care I can give and don't understand why anyone would take the chance. I don't care if the scare may be all hype. Better safe than sorry ~ I threw out all my Avent bottles. My childs health and safety is more important that a few dollars.

I use playtex drop in. I read in a magazine and online that the liners do not have BPA in them so thats when I made the switch from hard plastic to playtex. You can also buy BPA-Free plastic baby bottles but they are more expensive than the playtex. I understand your concern, we all want our children to be safe from all this junk...it's crazy!

Use your plastic bottles, I didn't see the recall so if its a sanitary issue, use the plastic bags inside the bottles for sanitary condition. (Playtex has the bottles you use the plastic inserts in, just use the inserts in a regular bottle, they will work. I did this years ago to avoid having to wash so many bottles.)
