How many other folks out here would like to see the law changed in the way it deals with anchor babies born?

Nyema asked:

I would like to see it changed in a way that when the babies are born here from illegal immigrants, they are not granted immediate citizenship, but rather they have to be a resident for 10 years before it becomes official. Making them a citizen at 10 years of age, rather than it being gave to them form birth. In other words, the babies should be treated in the same manor as their parents. Odes this sound fair? And do you think this would cut down on babies born here from illegals?

I think babies born to illegals should be a citizen of whatever country the illegal parents are.

For those who gave a thumbs down, what don’t you understand about ILLEGAL?

I agree. It’s an obvious tactic, not only to have the child be a U.S. citizen, but to use the child as an excuse to keep at least one parent here, who then brings over other family members who would otherwise have to wait and go through proper immigration channels. It’s a loophole that needs to be fixed.

Definitely. We become responsible for those children and their Mothers, at least, are supported from welfare checks and food because they have these babies.
I am really sick and tired of paying for other people’s pleasure. Children are pleasure that people should not have if they can’t afford them.
Surely it would cut down on the number of babies born.
Mothers surely do not want to watch their children go hungry.

Amen on that one! but I disagree with you on the age. Anchor babies should not be given citizenship until they are of legal age….18. and I also feel that we should not give free health care, food stamps and welfare to the parents of anchor babies. This would discourage many from coming here illegally to have a child that automatically gives them all the benefits.

Giving birthright citizenship to babies born to illegal aliens is a misuse of the 14th amendment. It never intended to give citizenship to foreigner or aliens.
One or both parents should have to be US citizens. I do not agree with giving citizenship to LPR’s babies born in the US. Most do not gain citizenship, use their children for welfare benefits, and have no tax liability. There is no difference in giving birthright citizenship to an illegal alien or an LPR. Neither pays taxes (LPR pay but get full refunds), both abuse welfare ER care, and do not gain citizenship for themselves. They do not read, speak or understand english nor do they teach english to their children.

I think there should be a law against having a baby in the USA if you are not a citizen. I believe the parents should be fined for this offense, and the parents and child should be deported once it is safe to leave the hospital. If the family members wish to apply for citizenship after this, they must first pay the fines before citizenship is granted.

NO anchors would be a great thing! A proper interpretation of the 14th amendment would solve the problem and rid us of future baggage.

I would like to see it where they are deported with illegal parents as soon as they are born. Make sure to send the bill to them in which ever country illegal comes from! I do not believe they deserve citizenship ever. No it would just allow them to stay for ten years and then the parents would use them for their citizenship later on. They are illegal, age does not matter, how their parents got here does not matter, and where they come from does not matter. It is just the next generation that will use and abuse the system just as their parents have done.

Cool idea, also I think since 99% of anchor babies born are born as citizen taxpayer burden, the fathers should be required to serve in one of the five armed force brances or national guard, with automatic payroll deduction in effect for WIC, welfare, and medical services received while bambinos were born and raised here. Come on people, is a wee bit of national service and payback too much to ask??? I guarantee you Mexico, South America, and India wouldn’t help us as we help them……

what you describe is exactly how the UK does it.

Canada does allow the babies to get canadian citizenship BUT the parents are not eligible to get ANY benefits whatsoever even if the child is canadian.

Benefits in Canada are paid to parents with LEGAL permanent status in Canada and not paid to the kids.

Amen! That was created to help the children of slaves, not to be abused by illegals.
